Woven seating is the quickest way to make a patio look like a destination rather than an overflow area. The trade-off is maintenance: weaving collects pollen and crumbs, and cheap cord fades or goes brittle within two summers. We use outdoor cord and wicker made from solution-dyed polymers, where the pigment is part of the fiber rather than printed on, wrapped over powder-coated aluminum frames.
| Material | Look | UV and wear behavior | Care |
|---|---|---|---|
| Olefin / polypropylene rope | Soft, matte, chunky | Good UV stability when solution-dyed | Hose off, soft brush |
| Polyester rope | Tighter, slight sheen | Strong, low stretch | Mild soap, rinse |
| HDPE wicker | Rattan look | Better UV and cold resistance than PVC wicker | Rinse, brush crevices |
| Textilene sling | Flat mesh | Dries fastest, very low maintenance | Wipe down |
Choosing a woven chair for contract use
- Ask whether the cord is solution-dyed. Surface-dyed cord fades unevenly where it is touched most.
- Check that the weave is tensioned around a full frame, not glued at the ends.
- Specify cushions with quick-dry foam and ties if the chair has a cushion at all.
- Confirm stacking: tub-shaped rope chairs often do not stack, which affects storage.
The Dune Rope Armchair and Whitecap Rope Tub Chair suit hotel terraces and wine bars; the Cabana Wicker Armchair gives a classic resort look for pool decks. Cord color is chosen from our current outdoor cord cards; tell us your palette and we will send physical samples.
